Quantum information and computation in many-body systems and their realizations in optical lattices

Abstract
Controllable interaction between distant qubits is essential for realization of a quantum computer. While natural interactions are very short ranged one may exploit the dynamics of many-body systems to mediate interaction between distant qubits. In particular, quantum state transfer and quantum gates can be realized using such idea. Recent progresses in cold atom experiments with single-site resolution have opened the way for realization of a wide range of Hamiltonians and their time evolution with the coherence time of the order of minutes. In this talk I review the recent experimental progress of cold atom experiments in optical lattices and introduce a few proposals for quantum communication and computation.
